How we make a custom piece
Every custom piece goes through the same steps, whether it takes four days or a month. Here's what happens between your first message and the day it ships.
The Design Process
It starts with a conversation
It starts with your idea, a sketch or a photo, and the questions that matter: the metal, the stones, the size and the budget. We'll give you an honest read on what the budget can do.
CAD design is part of the service, so you approve the piece before we cut any metal. We cast it, set the stones, and finish it by hand at the bench. We're GIA certified in Jewelry Design. Quality over everything.
The idea
Most custom pieces start with something you've already got: a sketch, a screenshot, an old ring or a logo. We'll settle the size, metal, stones and budget with you, and tell you up front what's realistic. Nothing moves forward until the idea is clear.
The design
We draw it up in CAD with every measurement in place, so you see the piece before it exists. Changes go back and forth until it's right. They're easy now and harder once it's cast, so take your time.
Casting, setting and finishing
Once you approve the design, we cast it in the metal you chose and set the stones. Then we finish it at the bench: polished, with enamel where the design calls for it, worked by hand until the detail's right.
The finished piece
Before it ships, we check the piece against the design you approved. Most custom work takes two to three weeks. Some pieces take four days, some take a month, and we'll tell you which before we start.
